With Canada Day having past and many people already enjoying the Canada Day long weekend, we thought we'd highlight how others throughout the country traditionally celebrate. Take notes for next year!
1. Ottawa, Ontario
The biggest and the best. Parliament Hill hosts thousands of Canadians. Don't leave before the fireworks.
2. Vancouver, British Columbia
Vancouver is the second biggest Canada Day celebration (outside of Ottawa). The daytime festival happens at Canada Place.
3. Charlottetown, PEI
In Victoria Park, the flag raises and the national anthem is sung before kicking off a 10-hour live concert. Now that's a Canada Day celebration!
4. Edmonton, Alberta
Fort Edmonton Park, City Hall, Chinatown (the night market) and High Level Bridge are highlights on Canada Day. High Level Bridge has a famous light show and fireworks in the river valley below.
5. Victoria, British Columbia
In front of the parliament buildings, Canadians gather to create the famous living flag, where hundreds of citizens dress in red and white and form the Canadian flag.
6. Toronto, Ontario
Join in on the live entertainment at the Harbourfront and watch the fireworks over Lake Ontario. But, as the biggest city in Canada, the whole city is alive with patriotic activities.
7. Montreal, Quebec
The Old Port of Montreal always has something happening on Canada Day. And, yes, Montreal also has great fireworks.
8. Quebec City, Quebec
During the day, get a slice of Canada Day cake from Fairmont Château Frontenac. At night, watch fireworks from Grey Terrace.
9. Regina, Saskatchewan
Experience live entertainment and street food from Wascana Park.
10. Winnipeg, Manitoba
Osbourne Village, Assiniboine Park and The Forks are great places to celebrate.
11. Calgary, Alberta
Prince’s Island Park hosts and celebrates First Nations and Canadian Military activities. Stay for the fireworks by the river.
